“Stop persecuting the referees immediately!” Atletico declared on social media, using Jose Mourinho himself as the spokesperson.
This response from Atletico came directly after Jose Mourinho‘s complaints following the derby. The club addressed the Real Madrid coach through their social media channels.
After the game, Mourinho appeared before the media holding a sheet of paper displaying images of controversial tackles by Cuti Romero and Kan In Lee, two incidents he believed warranted red cards. The Real Madrid manager used these photos to criticize the refereeing in the derby.
Atletico responded by posting a photo of Mourinho holding the sheet of paper, but replaced the images of the match moments with the message: “Stop persecuting the referees right now.”
