French club Nice has announced the signing of 37-year-old Belgian midfielder Axel Witsel. The experienced midfielder joined the Ligue 1 side as a free agent following his departure from Girona, who were relegated from La Liga and feature several Ukrainian players in their squad.

The Belgian veteran has agreed to a one-season contract with the Eagles, including an option to extend for an additional year. Witsel revealed that he had been in contact with the club several years ago, and after a call from the management and coach, he immediately decided to make the move. The midfielder emphasized that he is in excellent physical condition, remains sharp, and is eager to help his new team pursue ambitious goals in the French championship.
