The head coach of the Spain national team has shared his thoughts ahead of their upcoming UEFA Nations League clash against England, scheduled to take place in London on September 26.
“We will be incredibly focused from the very start. That is our mindset. There is always a goal to achieve, and the most important thing is the here and now. This is a new chapter and a new story — we want to be the stars of this new narrative.
The greatest motivation for any footballer is to play against England at Wembley. No other motivation is necessary. They are the perfect opponent to immediately get into form. England is an excellent national team, on par with us in quality, and will present a serious challenge.
Nothing we have accomplished so far will help us beat England — we need to perform better, and that is exactly what I will demand from the players during these few days of preparation: to play better than we have before, to stay focused, and to give their all in order to improve,” the coach was quoted as saying by UEFA’s official website.
