England winger Bukayo Saka has opened up about how his team is still struggling to come to terms with their defeat in the World Cup semi-final. The Three Lions were on the verge of reaching their first World Cup final in 60 years but conceded two goals to Argentina, ultimately losing the match.
“Of course, there’s still a scar left from when we believed in ourselves, when everyone was united and confident that we could do it. That feeling wasn’t just ours—it was shared by the entire country. You try to move on as quickly as possible, but you realize that a scar is a scar, and it will heal in its own time.
Right now, we are trying to put the World Cup behind us and focus on the upcoming international season. We have four very important and challenging group stage matches ahead, which will determine our progression to the Nations League playoffs, and that is where our attention is,” Saka told BBC Sport.
