Tottenham Hotspur head coach Roberto De Zerbi expressed his belief that his team did not deserve to lose 3-1 to Liverpool in the third round of the English League Cup.
“We need to shoot more often and with greater accuracy. We must convert our clear-cut chances better. It’s unfortunate how things turned out; we are disappointed and upset with the result. I believe it was unfair, but we have to accept it and grow stronger by overcoming this difficult period. I am honest with myself and with you.
I think in these last five or six matches, luck has not been on our side: against Newcastle, Everton, even Nottingham, and today as well. There is a lot we need to improve, especially defensively, as we made mistakes leading to the first goal conceded. This is a tough moment, but we must show resilience and prepare as best as possible for the next game,” De Zerbi commented.
It is worth noting that Tottenham registered 17 shots on Liverpool‘s goal, yet the only successful strike came from Conor Gallagher.
