Jürgen Klopp has urged Liverpool supporters to place their full trust in Florian Wirtz following his call-up to the Germany national team for the upcoming international break.
“My conversations with Flo have been very positive. We keep in touch regularly. I believe he has covered more ground than anyone else at Liverpool this season, so his willingness to work hard is clear. We need to stop expecting only spectacular, standout moments from him. He has to contribute as a team player. It’s important that we make Flo feel comfortable here. When the team functions as a unit, every player eventually shines,” Klopp explained.
“We have to appreciate the matches where Flo gives his all, even if he doesn’t record a goal or an assist. We simply need to let the guy know: today, you performed more than admirably and helped the team. Whether we win 1-0 or 2-0, let the experts debate whether he met expectations or not,” Klopp added.
It is worth noting that in September, the Germany national team will face the Netherlands and Greece in the UEFA Nations League, while in October they will take on Serbia and Greece again in the same competition.
