Argentine defender Cristian Romero has officially confirmed his departure from Tottenham Hotspur. The Spurs captain is close to sealing a move to Atlético Madrid, with the transfer fee reported to be €40 million. Over five years in London, the center-back made 156 appearances and played a key role in helping the club secure the long-awaited UEFA Europa League trophy.
“Today, I say goodbye to a place that has been more than just a club to me for five seasons. It was my home and my greatest challenge. When I arrived here, I dreamed of etching my name into the club’s history and winning a trophy. We achieved that together. Although the journey wasn’t perfect, I choose to remember only the happy moments, the victories, and the immense love I have received all these years,” the Argentine addressed the Spurs supporters.
