The French national team has suffered setbacks ahead of their Round of 16 World Cup clash against Sweden. Forward Markus Thuram is confirmed to miss the upcoming Tuesday fixture. Meanwhile, midfielder N’Golo Kanté’s participation remains doubtful.
The 2018 World Cup winner Kanté is struggling with a knee issue. Notably, he is among three outfield players in the squad who have yet to feature in the tournament so far.
“Markus has a muscle problem, which isn’t serious. N’Golo’s issue isn’t muscular, but his availability for tomorrow’s match is uncertain,” explained Didier Deschamps, the head coach of the French side, clarifying the squad situation.
