France’s national team coach Didier Deschamps expressed his feelings after securing a place in the quarterfinals of the World Cup. In the Round of 16 match, France edged past Paraguay with a narrow victory thanks to a goal from Kylian Mbappe.
“It wasn’t easy. If we had converted one of our chances late in the game, the final moments would have been much calmer.
Paraguay employed every possible tactic. It’s not the kind of football that fans enjoy watching, but we maintained our focus, which is no small feat. They play a very physical game and defend exceptionally well.
This is another significant step forward for France. Facing South American teams is always challenging, but I’m very pleased that the players managed the task. We’ve reached the quarterfinals, and now we need to enjoy it,” the coach told FIFA’s official website.
