Canadian midfielder Steven Eustáquio reflected on his team’s exit in the Round of 16 at the World Cup following their defeat to Morocco, a match in which the hosts scored three times.
“I believe we had an incredible tournament. Up until halftime in this game, we were playing exceptionally well. Our fans back home should be proud of us,” Eustáquio said.
He added, “We felt we could win this match, especially in the first half. We dominated, fought hard, created chances, and our set pieces were on point. However, after one of those set pieces, we lost the lead, and naturally, when we tried to come back, we paid the price on the counterattacks.”
