Former Belgian international and Chelsea and Tottenham star Eden Hazard recently made a surprising admission regarding the most talented footballer he has ever played alongside. That player turned out to be Gaël Kakuta.
“The most talented player I’ve ever played with? Gaël Kakuta. The only one who truly impressed me was Gaël Kakuta. You asked me about talent. Kakuta is definitely number one. Talent. I mean, talent. Wow,” Hazard stated emphatically.
“You know, during our youth careers, I often faced him because I was at Lille and he was at Lens. It’s a derby in northern France. Usually, we would win every match 5-0, 6-0, and I was always the best player. But then when we played against him, we lost! And he was always the standout player. Looking back now, I think he moved to Chelsea too early. I believe he was 16. That move at 16 is a huge step. And he just couldn’t make it work,” Hazard concluded.
Kakuta spent six years at Chelsea but never established himself in London, making only six appearances for the Blues. His career later took him through leagues in Spain, France, and even China. Now 35 years old, Kakuta is currently playing for Greek side Larisa.
