England and Germany Increase Pressure on FIFA President Infantino
The controversy surrounding Gianni Infantino has intensified following the cancellation of the project to sell commercial rights for the World Cup. On Saturday, both the German and English football associations publicly backed UEFA’s firm stance.
Bernd Neuendorf, president of the German Football Association, openly criticized FIFA’s leadership:
“The FIFA president acted unilaterally, lacking transparency and showing irresponsibility towards football.”
Neuendorf called for an investigation and a change in governance culture. Meanwhile, the Football Association of England took an even stronger position, issuing a statement:
“We fully support UEFA and call for a thorough review of FIFA’s leadership.”
