Manchester City head coach Enzo Maresca reflected on his team’s 0-3 defeat to Arsenal in the FA Community Shield and shared his thoughts on the club’s transfer strategy.
“Even before the match, we clearly understood what needed to be done. Whether we lost or won wouldn’t have changed our approach. We have a clear vision and will definitely take specific steps before the transfer window closes. Regarding potential new signings, the sooner they start training with us, the better, especially since the Premier League kicks off in just a week. They need time to adapt to our style of play.
Overall, I always feel some concern, even when we win. So you can imagine how I feel now, though this is just the beginning of our journey. There are many areas we need to improve. However, the team responded well after conceding the first goal. Now we must reset, analyze our mistakes, and prepare for the next match starting Tuesday. Jack Grealish came on when the score was 0-2, at a point when the game had become difficult, but he performed well overall. Everyone in the squad will work hard every day, and if they deserve it, they will get their playing time,” Maresca stated.
