Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta reflected on his team’s commanding 3-0 victory over Manchester City in the FA Community Shield and shared insights on their plans for the upcoming season.
“I am extremely pleased with our performance, the result, and securing our first trophy. We spoke about wanting to start the season strongly, and today against a top opponent, I saw many positive signs. Our win is the product of a high-quality preseason. The team displayed incredible spirit, which is our standard. No club has won the league twice in a row yet, so it will take something special, and we are ready for that.
Christos Tzolis has integrated seamlessly into the squad. In the final 20-30 meters, he is incredibly composed and once again played a decisive role today. Riccardo Calafiori has the potential to become a complete footballer: he has an excellent instinct in the opponent’s penalty area, but also performs very well defensively. Regarding transfers, due to injuries, we have some vulnerable positions, and we have been working for several weeks on targeted reinforcements,” Arteta stated.
