FIFA Grants France Rare Exemption for Pre-Match Press Conference
The French national team received a rare concession from FIFA ahead of their World Cup match against Norway. Aurélien Tchouaméni and Guy Stéphan will hold their pre-match press conference at their training base at Bentley University, rather than at the stadium.
FIFA’s regulations on such matters are usually strict, but on this occasion, the international governing body showed remarkable flexibility. The French were allowed to skip the trip to Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, saving the team an hour’s travel from their hotel in Boston. Tchouaméni will address the media first, followed by Stéphan, who is standing in for Didier Deschamps. The French coach had to leave the team abruptly due to the passing of his mother.
