FIFA World Cup 2026 Sets New Attendance Record Before Round of 16
The current World Cup has officially set an all-time attendance record, surpassing a milestone that stood for three decades. Following the match between Ecuador and Germany at the New York stadium, the total number of spectators across all venues exceeded 3.6 million. The previous record was set in 1994, also in the United States, when matches attracted 3,587,538 fans. Remarkably, this new record was achieved even before the Round of 16 began.
At the same time, television ratings have soared. The opening match featuring the United States against Paraguay drew nearly 16 million viewers across FOX, FOX One, and Tubi platforms, making it the most-watched game in the history of the U.S. national team. Thursday, June 25, also marked the highest single-day attendance in the tournament’s history, with 426,834 fans filling stadiums.
