Former Brazil Coach Carlos Alberto Parreira Hospitalized in Intensive Care
Former Brazil national team coach Carlos Alberto Parreira is currently in the intensive care unit. The 83-year-old was admitted to a hospital in Rio de Janeiro due to pneumonia. He underwent a successful operation to stop a nosebleed. At present, the legendary coach is sedated and on mechanical ventilation, with his condition reported as stable. Since 2023, Parreira has also been battling Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Parreira holds the record for the most World Cup appearances as a coach. The pinnacle of his career came in 1994 when he led Brazil to their fourth World Cup title.
