Davide Frattesi, midfielder for Lazio and the Italy national team, shared his thoughts on the start of the new era under the guidance of Roberto Mancini, who has taken charge of the Squadra Azzurra for the second time in his career.
The team’s next fixture will be a UEFA Nations League clash against Belgium.
“It’s the same Mancini we know well from his previous spell with the Italy national team. But now, our focus should not be on next week alone, but on the future,” Frattesi said.
“Even if we make mistakes, the important thing is to keep trying. As the matches get tougher, achieving something special is only possible by learning from those mistakes along the way. We have many new players who are very talented. I believe they will be a great help to us.
I’m happy that he [Mancini] has returned, as is the whole team. The truth is, the reasons behind Mancini’s departure in 2023 don’t concern us, and I don’t think anyone should be blamed. People say different things, but I’d like to see how many wouldn’t have done the same. Talk means nothing, and we are all very pleased to have him back with the team.
The new squad mainly consists of young players. We are starting to build something good. Many are newcomers, and our task is to help them settle in, but I see high-level players who I believe will support us.
Who among the newcomers stands out? They are all good players. Obviously, from what I’ve seen, I like Ignazio. He is young but has both talent and character. I like him.”
