The La Liga matchday 6 fixture between Levante and Athletic Bilbao, scheduled for September 16 at the Ciutat de València Stadium, was postponed due to heavy rainfall that flooded the pitch, rendering it unplayable.
Both teams had already completed their warm-ups when the downpour intensified sharply just before kickoff. The field became waterlogged with large puddles, and the tunnel leading from the dressing rooms to the pitch was submerged, resembling a small lake. After inspecting the conditions, the referees and La Liga officials decided to postpone the game.
The Spanish Meteorological Agency (AEMET) had earlier issued an orange alert warning for severe precipitation in the Valencia province. Fans who were already seated in the stands were forced to evacuate the stadium.
A new date for the match has yet to be confirmed. It will be announced once the clubs reach an agreement. Athletic Bilbao have since returned to Bilbao, and both teams are scheduled to play other league matches over the upcoming weekend.
