The Campeones Cup is an annual one-off match that pits the MLS champion against the winner of the Mexican Campeón de Campeones. Established in 2018, the tournament determines the strongest team between the two leading North American leagues.

Last night at Nu Stadium in Miami, the home side Inter Miami secured a 2-0 victory over Mexico’s Cruz Azul in the battle for this trophy. In the 24th minute, Lionel Messi opened the scoring with a stunning header, perfectly connecting with a cross from Luis Suárez. This goal marked Messi’s 100th for the club.

The win was sealed in the 81st minute when Casemiro headed home from a corner delivered by Messi himself, doubling Inter Miami’s advantage.

This triumph marked a perfect start for new head coach Cristian “Kily” González and represented Inter Miami’s fourth trophy in four seasons with Messi on the squad. The Argentine maestro was named the match’s best player.
