Joe Hart Criticizes 2026 World Cup Ball for Goalkeeper Challenges
The official Adidas World Cup ball, the Trionda, has become a nightmare for goalkeepers. Its unique four-panel design causes it to travel faster than usual, leading to an increase in long-range goals and mistakes. Goalkeepers like Édouard Mendy and Luca Zidane have already fallen victim to the ball’s unpredictable flight.
Former England goalkeeper Joe Hart explained the issue during a BBC broadcast: “I notice it especially with high balls—they reach the keepers much quicker than they appear at the moment of the strike. These are world-class goalkeepers, but they simply can’t get their hands up in time.”
Hart added that while players might eventually adapt to the ball’s speed, for now, forwards are taking full advantage of this opportunity.
