Jonathan Tah reflects on Germany’s decisive penalty miss against Paraguay
Jonathan Tah, who missed the decisive penalty for Germany in their shootout loss to Paraguay, has opened up about his feelings following the crucial miss. The Germans were eliminated from the World Cup after falling 3-4 on penalties.
“Honestly, I felt good. I wasn’t very nervous, although I thought I should have been, but the shot just didn’t go well,” Tah admitted.
“Next time, I would take the penalty again. I believe it’s important to take responsibility in difficult moments. That was something I specifically decided to do in this tournament: to step up and take responsibility – and that’s exactly why I took the penalty at that moment.”
It’s worth noting that several German players declined to take the decisive penalty before Tah, which led the Bayern defender to take the risk himself.
