Bordeaux Suspended from All National Competitions Over Financial Issues
The National Directorate for the Control of Financial Resources has banned Bordeaux from participating in all national football competitions. The Girondins failed to cover a budget deficit of 9 million euros and were consequently subjected to sanctions.
Bordeaux was competing in the second tier of French football, but their financial situation had become dire.
The club has announced plans to appeal the decision. Should the appeal fail, Bordeaux will, at best, be relegated to Régional 1, the sixth tier of French football.
