The Los Angeles Lakers, the legendary NBA franchise, have been sold to Joshua Kushner for an astonishing $12 billion. This transaction marks the largest deal ever recorded in professional sports history.

Just over a year after Mark Walter, owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, purchased the historic Lakers franchise for a then-record $10 billion, he has now sold the team to Joshua Kushner and Bob Iger for $12 billion.

Joshua Kushner is the businessman who was reportedly considered by Gianni Infantino to be the potential buyer of the rights to host the FIFA World Cup tournaments.

Kushner, the younger brother of Jared Kushner—who is the son-in-law of former President Donald Trump—previously held a minority stake in the Memphis Grizzlies. Last year, he also acquired less than 5% ownership of the Miami Heat. His wife, supermodel Karlie Kloss, owns a share in the New York Liberty of the WNBA.
