Juventus has reached an agreement with Bologna for the transfer of Colombian defender John Lucumi. According to Tuttosport, the deal is valued at €20 million, with an additional €2 million in potential bonuses.
Lucumi is expected to arrive in Turin today to undergo a medical examination, after which he will sign a contract running until June 2031. Reports indicate that his salary will be €2.5 million per season, plus bonuses.
The 28-year-old defender prioritized joining Juventus despite receiving more lucrative offers from other clubs, including Nottingham Forest, Sunderland, and Newcastle.
This transfer also aligns with the tactical needs of Luciano Spalletti. Lucumi’s ability to build play from the back makes him especially appealing to the Juventus manager, who desires his central defenders to be more ambitious in initiating attacks from deep positions.
Last season, the Colombian averaged 57 accurate passes per game with an 89.6% pass completion rate, alongside 4.5 long passes per match at a 61.5% accuracy.
