Kai Havertz Responds to Gary Lineker’s Criticism of Germany Squad
Arsenal forward Kai Havertz responded to former striker Gary Lineker’s criticism of the German national team. Lineker told L’Équipe that, in his opinion, this squad is “one of the weakest” in Germany’s history and predicted that France would advance to the quarterfinals “without any problems.”
“Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I didn’t even notice it myself,” Havertz said. “Of course, during a tournament, a lot is said about you. But I don’t think anyone in the team pays much attention to it.”
The 27-year-old also pointed out that Germany already has plenty of experts offering their views on the team’s performance.
“We have enough experts in our own country — if specialists from other countries join in, that’s too much. It’s always easy to criticize us from the outside. But honestly, I’m not interested in that at all,” Kai emphasized.
It is worth noting that today Germany will face Paraguay in their Round of 16 match.
