Kvaratskhelia emphasized the profound significance of this nomination for his country. In an interview with BBC, he expressed pride at being listed among the candidates for such a renowned individual accolade.
“I think it’s hard for the big footballing nations to understand what this means for a small country like Georgia. It’s something very distant, almost impossible. I am very proud to be one of the nominees. Being alongside such outstanding players is a great privilege,” Kvaratskhelia said.
The Georgian international admitted that the prospect of winning the award stirs special emotions within him.
“Of course, I would be the happiest person in the world because I want my family and my country to be proud of me,” Kvaratskhelia added.
At the same time, he stressed that regardless of the outcome, he does not intend to alter his approach to football.
“I am very proud of what I have achieved in football. But I want to keep following this path. I always say that whatever happens is in God’s hands. I will just continue to work and train. I will remain the same and don’t want to change anything. We’ll see what happens,” the Georgian concluded.
