Andrea Maldera, the head coach of the Ukraine national team, shared his insights ahead of the third Nations League match against Northern Ireland. The game is scheduled for Friday, with kickoff at 18:45 UTC.
“I believe Northern Ireland is a very strong side. They have a distinctive style of play, and we hold great respect for our opponents. I expect the match to be closely contested, much like the entire group stage. The teams are fairly evenly matched. Northern Ireland can generate many dangerous chances, especially from throw-ins and set pieces,” Maldera commented.
“In a balanced game, individual moments can prove decisive. We have a lot of respect for their coach and team. They are truly a quality opponent, and we know this will be a tough match,” the Italian coach added.
When asked about the condition of Andriy Yarmolenko, Maldera responded:
“We need to work very carefully with Yarmolenko. We all know his technical abilities well, but he brings more than that. He has a strong desire to play. It’s my responsibility to determine the right moment to bring him on. He is fully prepared. Over these two matches, he will be a valuable asset for us,” the coach assured.
