The visitors took the lead in the 16th minute when Joshua Zirkzee scored off an assist from Bryan Mbeumo. However, Leeds responded before halftime, with Brenden Aaronson leveling the score in the 29th minute.

The second half saw no further goals from open play, and the outcome was decided by penalties. Nusair Mazraoui converted the winning spot-kick, sealing the success for Manchester United.
