Marcelo Bielsa Admits Leaving No Lasting Impact on Uruguayan Football
Uruguay national team head coach Marcelo Bielsa expressed his disappointment following his side’s 0-1 defeat to Spain. The loss confirmed Uruguay’s third-place finish in their group, resulting in their exit from the World Cup.
“The match was quite balanced. We deserved a draw and should have secured it. The issue was not with the quality of our play. I take full responsibility for this disappointment,” the 70-year-old coach told reporters.
“When asked how my tenure with the national team will be remembered, I would say it was a period that left nothing significant behind. I do not leave anything for Uruguayan football because any contribution I made during my three years here did not yield results.”
