Hungary national team head coach Marco Rossi addressed the absence of key players, new additions, and the team’s priorities during a press conference ahead of their UEFA Nations League clash against Ukraine.
“When important players are sidelined, it’s very difficult to replace them because quality is quality. Unlike, for example, Jürgen Klopp, we can’t call up two players with identical skills for every position. Everything depends on how we respond. It will come down to the players’ reaction and their approach to the challenge. It’s a tough situation, but they can draw motivation from it,” Rossi explained.
“Barnabás Varga is one of the best aerial players in Europe, and replacing him is quite challenging. Obviously, we’ll have to adjust our tactics due to his absence. As for Roli [Roland Sallai], we have more options to fill his spot. Ukraine arrives with highly capable players from significant European clubs. We will take the field with utmost respect but will not give our fans any reason to be ashamed. I can’t promise we will secure three points, but I can promise that we will fight with all our might from the first to the last minute,” the Italian concluded.
