Miroslav Koubek Steps Down as Czech Republic Coach After World Cup Exit
The Czech Republic has embarked on a significant overhaul immediately following their exit from the tournament. The national team’s management announced the departure of head coach Miroslav Koubek. The team finished at the bottom of Group A, suffering two defeats and one draw.
The 74-year-old coach took charge of the national side in December 2025 and oversaw just six matches, three of which were during the current World Cup. Notably, he was instrumental in guiding the team to the World Cup finals for the first time since 2006. This marks the Czech Republic’s second major upheaval in recent times, following the departure of Patrik Schick from the squad.
Miroslav Koubek leaves his position by mutual agreement. “Thank you for bringing us back to the World Cup after 20 years,” the federation’s statement expressed.
