Mourinho Criticizes Bernardo Silva’s Fitness After Real Madrid Win
Real Madrid’s head coach José Mourinho commented on the physical condition of new signing Bernardo Silva following their 2-1 friendly victory over Ferencváros. The Portuguese manager expressed dissatisfaction with the midfielder’s fitness after returning from his break.
“Bernardo is very important to us, but he is one of those players who mentally switch off during the holidays and do nothing. As a result, he came back with a rather low level of physical readiness and needs to improve,” Mourinho said. “That said, Silva is an incredible player. He provides us with excellent ball progression from defensive midfield positions, whether as a number six or eight, and he also feels comfortable playing behind the forwards. Coaches need such versatile players, especially when registering a squad of twenty players,” the Spanish media quoted Mourinho as saying.
