Nagelsmann Acknowledges Germany Faces Tough Challenge Against Paraguay
After Germany’s defeat to Ecuador in their final group stage match, head coach Julian Nagelsmann is considering making changes to the Bundesteam lineup for their Round of 16 clash against Paraguay on Monday.
“There are tactical reasons to adjust certain aspects, but there are also reasons to keep things as they are,” Nagelsmann said during his pre-match press conference in Foxborough.
“I will assess what the opponent can bring and what will benefit our style of play. There’s no point in making things easier for the opposing coach than necessary. Ultimately, we will decide together with the players and coaching staff, and we will finalize it before the game.”
Despite Germany being clear favorites, Nagelsmann anticipates a tough challenge:
“Paraguay defines itself through defensive football, which they execute very well. Offensively, they play very straightforwardly. They are a difficult opponent who will demand a lot from us.”
