Niko Schlotterbeck, the central defender for Borussia Dortmund, has been left out of the 23-man squad for Germany‘s UEFA Nations League match against Greece in Augsburg. This was confirmed by the official team list released by UEFA.
Schlotterbeck started and played the full 90 minutes in Germany’s 1-1 draw against the Netherlands last Thursday.
However, his omission comes as no surprise since Schlotterbeck, along with Serge Gnabry, will remain with the German squad throughout the four matches scheduled during this international break.
His absence from the lineup is likely a precautionary measure to give the player some rest. It is possible that he will feature later in the week.
The opportunity to showcase defensive skills alongside Jonathan Tah is expected to go to Yann-Aurel Bisseck from Inter Milan, presenting another chance for the young defender to impress the new Germany head coach Jürgen Klopp.
