Nico Schlotterbeck to Miss Borussia Dortmund Season Start Due to Ankle Injury
Nico Schlotterbeck faces an extended recovery period following a medial ankle ligament injury sustained while representing Germany at the World Cup. According to Bild, Borussia Dortmund is optimistic that their central defender will be match-fit by mid-September at the latest.
The report indicates that Schlotterbeck will need to wear a protective boot for the next four to six weeks. Consequently, he will miss Dortmund’s preseason trip to Japan scheduled from July 26 to August 2, instead remaining at the club’s training facility to continue his individual rehabilitation program.
Additionally, it has been confirmed that the €50 million buyout clause for Schlotterbeck’s contract, which was available to a select group of clubs for one week following the World Cup final, will not be activated. The defender is fully focused on his recovery and returning to the pitch as soon as possible.
