Monaco’s Future Uncertain as Court Hearing Delayed Again

Monaco‘s future remains uncertain as the court prepares to make a decision. Following a hearing on Friday, October 2, at the Monaco Court of First Instance, the case has been postponed until Tuesday, October 6.
According to reports from L’ Équipe and Nice-Matin, the court delayed its ruling to October 6, granting the Roca Team a few extra days before the hearing that will determine the fate of its professional structure. However, the local press is pessimistic, suggesting that the Friday hearing “does not bode well,” implying a likely liquidation.
Since securing the French championship title in June, Monaco’s sporting situation has deteriorated due to administrative decisions.
Initially, the DNCCG rejected the club’s application to join Betclic ELITE and ELITE 2 because of insufficient guarantees regarding the club’s financial viability. The FFBB Appeals Chamber later upheld this refusal.
Monaco then attempted to return to National League 1. Yet again, on September 12, the FFBB Federal Bureau denied their application following a negative assessment from the Management Control Commission. An appeal to the CNOSF (French National Olympic and Sports Committee) also failed.
With no possibility to continue competing at this level, liquidation appears to be the next logical step. However, the decision was not made immediately after discussions. The upcoming hearing on Tuesday, October 6, is expected to officially confirm the cessation of activities for the current French champions.
