According to German media reports, Borussia Dortmund is close to extending the contract of Niko Kovač. Following new deals signed by club executives Carsten Cramer, Lars Ricken, and Thomas Treß, only the head coach’s contract remains to be renewed.

Sources from Sports BILD indicate that the Croatian manager has already reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund. The current contract, set to expire in 2027, is expected to be extended until the summer of 2029, with only the signature pending.

It appears that Kovač wanted to wait for clarity regarding Ricken’s future before making a final decision in favor of Dortmund.

A formal agreement between Borussia Dortmund and Kovač, along with an official announcement from the Bundesliga club, is anticipated soon.
