Paolo Maldini to Become Italy’s First Ever Technical Director
Paolo Maldini, the man who dedicated 25 years to AC Milan, is set to embark on a new chapter in his football career. The legendary Italian defender is expected to take on the role of technical director for the Italy national team—a position that has never before existed in Italian football.
The appointment is reportedly nearing completion under the newly elected president of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), Giovanni Malagò, who has made filling this role a top priority. Maldini is slated to assume the position before Italy appoints its next head coach.
This new role is designed to serve as a daily liaison between the FIGC, Serie A clubs, players, and the coaching staff. Maldini will be responsible for managing relations with clubs, providing tactical advice, and playing a central part in the selection process for the next head coach.
