Without their injured first-choice goalkeeper Joan Garcia, the Catalans started the game more cautiously than usual. However, by the eighth minute, Lamine Yamal tested the woodwork with a long-range shot. Sevilla punished Barcelona’s slight lack of urgency in the 19th minute when Correa delivered a cross from the left flank into the penalty area, allowing Youssouf Fofana to head powerfully into the near top corner.
Barcelona responded swiftly. Just three minutes later, a vertical pass sliced through Sevilla’s defense, enabling Raphinha to elegantly evade a defender before slotting the ball low into the net, leveling the score at 1-1. The teams went into halftime with the scores tied, setting up a tense second half.
That tension didn’t last long. In the 52nd minute, the visitors capitalized on a Sevilla error early in their attack. Lamine Yamal delivered a delicate cross into the box, and Raphinha timed his run perfectly to head the ball home, putting Barcelona ahead 2-1.
The contest was effectively sealed in the 69th minute. Yamal set up Raphinha one-on-one with the goalkeeper, and the Brazilian calmly chipped the ball over the keeper to make it 3-1, the final score in favor of Barcelona.
With this victory, Barcelona remain the sole leaders of La Liga as the league pauses for the international break. The size of their lead will depend on the outcome of the Madrid derby scheduled for Sunday.
