Mourinho Approves Real Madrid’s Pursuit of Arsenal Midfielder Subimendi
Real Madrid has renewed its interest in Arsenal midfielder Martin Zubimendi. According to TEAMtalk, José Mourinho has given the green light to pursue a deal with the English champions.
Zubimendi joined Arsenal just last year, transferring from Real Sociedad for €65 million. However, his role in North London has become uncertain following changes in Mikel Arteta‘s midfield setup.
The 27-year-old featured prominently for most of his debut season, but towards the end, Miles Lewis-Skelly was favored, and the arrival of Bruno Guimarães further intensified competition for midfield spots.
Sources reveal that Zubimendi’s representatives have already entered talks with Arsenal. While the London club is not actively pushing the Spanish player to leave, they are open to considering offers if an acceptable bid arrives.
This development has prompted Real Madrid to re-enter the race for Zubimendi, especially after their primary target, Rodri, opted to join Barcelona instead.
The main hurdle remains the price tag set by Arsenal. Having invested €65 million in Zubimendi just a year ago, the Gunners are unlikely to sanction his departure for a lower fee.
