Ramaz Svanadze, the new head coach of the Georgia national team, spoke to the media ahead of their UEFA Nations League clash against Ukraine. He took charge just two days before the match following the unexpected dismissal of Villy Sagnol, under whom Svanadze had served as an assistant coach.
“First and foremost, I want to thank Villy Sagnol for everything he has done for Georgian football, and personally, for the opportunity I had to serve as head coach of the youth team and as a member of the coaching staff. Believe me, it was an invaluable experience for me,” Svanadze began.
“For the upcoming matches, I expect us to respond appropriately and show the right emotions given everything that has happened over the past two days. Unfortunately, we started the first game with a loss, so now all our efforts will focus on correcting that.”
Svanadze also revealed that his coaching staff is not yet fully assembled.
“Regarding the coaching staff, today I have two coaches with me — Georgi Dekanosidze, my assistant, and Bondo Gotsiridze. However, the staff is still being finalized, as right now our full attention is on the upcoming matches from start to finish.”
