The 2024 Ballon d’Or winner has officially completed his transfer to Barcelona. The 30-year-old midfielder’s move cost the Catalan club €76.5 million including bonuses, marking the end of his seven-year spell in England. As he bid farewell to the city and his former club, the Spanish playmaker shared a heartfelt message with the fans:

“It’s hard to find words to express my gratitude for the love and support my family has received over all these years. Memories flood back: the first trophy in my debut match, crucial goals against Arsenal and Aston Villa, and of course, the goal that secured us the long-awaited Champions League. We made history by winning the treble and four consecutive Premier League titles. I am proud to be the first player to win the Ballon d’Or wearing the sky blue jersey. You stood by me through the tough times as well. Manchester shaped me both as a player and as a person. Thank you to the club, the supporters, the staff, and my teammates. This story wouldn’t be what it is without you. My heart will forever remain blue.”
