Roy Keane, the former captain of Manchester United, has voiced his strong criticism regarding the financial misconduct of Manchester City. An independent commission recently found the “Citizens” guilty on all charges related to financial violations spanning from 2009 to 2018.
“The City players knew that their actions hurt many people, yet they went ahead anyway. If I were a player who achieved success during those years and was praised a lot, I would throw those medals in the trash, 100 percent. This was cheating.
You hear nonsense from former players saying, ‘They won it on the pitch.’ But cheating did take place. Now it will be very difficult for their players and coach. They trusted their football club and what it was doing. Their owners are quite satisfied with cheating. Maintaining the previous level will be very challenging,” Keane said in an interview with Sky Sports.
