The Central Committee of the Swiss Football Association dramatically shifted its stance ahead of the international federation’s presidential elections. During the meeting held on September 25, 2026, the organization officially withdrew its support for the official’s bid for a new term, which had been announced in June.

“This decision follows a thorough reassessment of the developments over recent months. In particular, this relates to the clarity of rules and the integrity of competitions in the Balogun case, as well as the institutional integration and accountability within the FIFA Forward Enterprise,” the statement read.
