The 34-year-old Egyptian striker, who spent nine years at Liverpool, is set to arrive at Papara Park, where he will sign a two-season contract with Trabzonspor on Thursday evening.
The Turkish club has turned the signing into a spectacle, flooding social media with videos from the plane, footage of the successful medical examination, and images of the new jersey being stamped. The highlight will be the official presentation at the stadium.
“To witness history and take the first step together on this unforgettable journey, we invite all our fans to come to our home, Papara Park, wearing the new season’s shirts,” Trabzonspor announced.
The ceremony will be broadcast on Thursday evening. According to local media reports, the forward’s contract will include a salary of 17 million euros over two years, plus bonuses and a percentage of jersey sales.
