Vozeinha to Join Colo-Colo After Fourth Attempt
Vozinha, the 40-year-old goalkeeper who made history with Cape Verde at the recent World Cup, arrived in Chile on Sunday to join Colo-Colo following a series of unexpected developments that had cast doubt on his transfer.
“I am very happy to be here. I want to thank the fans for their patience while waiting for me,” the Cape Verde star told reporters in Chile. “See you at the Monumental Stadium.”
Colo-Colo, Chile’s most successful football club, officially announced the signing of Josimar Evora Diaz, better known as Vozinha, on July 24. However, several delays—including paperwork issues and personal matters—postponed his arrival three times, raising concerns both inside and outside the club.
He finally landed at Santiago airport at 20:35 UTC. A large crowd of fans awaited him at the terminal, waving flags, holding banners, beating drums, and chanting his name.
