Kylian Mbappé has left the France national team following an injury sustained during the opening UEFA Nations League match against Turkey. The 27-year-old captain suffered a knee injury and will miss the remainder of the current international window, including fixtures against Belgium and Italy.
“Something is wrong with him. Unfortunately, the situation looks unfavorable. I think he will have to return home. We won’t take any risks. He overstretched his knee badly during the shot. It’s not very encouraging,” offered a somber comment from Zinedine Zidane.
The French Football Federation (FFF) officially confirmed that Mbappé sustained a left knee tendon injury. In an official statement released shortly after the match, the governing body provided further details about the nature of the injury.
The statement read: “Kylian Mbappé injured his knee during the winning strike. He is suffering from a tendon injury and will return to Madrid for treatment.”
