Miami Heat‘s star newcomer Giannis Antetokounmpo has declared his ambition to compete for the championship from his very first season with the franchise.
“The goal is to win the championship. I will work towards that,” Antetokounmpo said.
“Adapting? Everything is new to me. I’m trying to learn the defense, studying the offensive systems, and adjusting to new faces in the locker room. I also want to learn how to play alongside teammates I’ve never played with before. It’s all new, and that’s exciting.”
He added, “I truly believe that if I’m not the best, then I’m one of the best players in the world. When I’m at my peak, fully focused, and my body is in good shape, I firmly believe I can dominate the game and impact it on both ends of the floor, offensively and defensively. I think I’ve proven that over many years.”
The Greek forward joined the Heat after spending 13 seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks. As part of the deal, the Bucks received Tyler Herro, Jaime Harkless, Caleb Weir, Kasparas Jakucionis, and the 13th overall pick in the 2026 draft, which was converted into Nate Amenta.
