Giannis Antetokounmpo Traded from Bucks to Heat in Major NBA Deal
The Milwaukee Bucks have traded franchise icon Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis to the Miami Heat in exchange for Tyler Herro, Caleb Houstan, Jae’Sean Tate, Kasparas Jakstys, three first-round draft picks—including the 13th pick in the 2026 draft—and additional minor assets. The deal, set to be finalized on July 6, has been widely described by ESPN as a blockbuster trade.
This acquisition marks a significant move for the Heat. The two-time MVP and 2021 champion will join forces with Bam Adebayo to form a formidable frontcourt, instantly boosting Miami’s title odds from 30-to-1 to 18-to-1 according to bookmakers. Giannis chose Miami over other suitors, including Boston, confident that the Heat offer the best chance to compete for another championship.
Meanwhile, the Bucks receive a package of young players in their twenties alongside a substantial haul of draft picks, providing them with the flexibility to rebuild under new head coach Taylor Jenkins.
